Banbury Museum & Gallery

Located at the heart of Banbury’s vibrant canalside, Banbury Museum & Gallery is a family friendly museum that tells the story of Banbury’s fascinating past.   

Explore the town’s origins and history in the Banbury Gallery, with displays on the Civil War, plush manufacturing, the Victorian market town, and costume from the 17th century to the present day. 

The Waterways Gallery bridges the Oxford Canal and tells of the canal and the neighbouring historic Tooley’s Boatyard. This gallery is currently being redesigned and will be redisplayed.

The Pye Gallery offers an ever-changing programme of temporary exhibitions, hosting everything from Grayson Perry to Vikings, Turner to Lego. There’s always something new to see.

A visit to the museum is not complete without discovering local artists, and souvenirs in the museum shop and a visit to Pavement Coffee Co. canalside for brunch, lunch, cakes, and coffee. The Museum also runs children’s crafts and activities throughout the school holidays with events for under 5s during term time. 

There is easy access by train, bus and car, all just minutes from Banbury’s new cultural hub. Entry to the museum is free, with a small admission charge for special exhibitions.
